Best Time for Scuba Diving in Havelock
Year-round bookings from Beach No. 5. What October–May vs monsoon actually feel like for viz, crowds, and first dives — then book the slot.
We book year-round
Continental Scuba takes bookings from Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) all year. October through May is usually the easier classroom: flatter seas, more reliable viz, fewer weather calls. Southwest monsoon (June–September) is still the Andamans — wind, rain, runoff — and we will not pretend a July morning is February.
If we are not operating that day, we refer a partner rather than leave you on the sand with a cancelled boat and no plan. More on the water in monsoon and the reef.
October–November
Monsoon is finishing. Seas flatten week by week and visibility usually climbs. Fewer people than Christmas. A solid window if you can travel then.
December–February
This is when most visitors come. Seas are often flat, water around 27–29°C, vis commonly in the 15–25 m range on good days. Book early around Christmas and New Year — slots go.
March–May
Warmer water. We see more rays some years. April and May are quieter than winter. Still worth coming.
June–September
Expect more weather calls. First dives and Open Water classroom days are harder when swell and silt show up. If scuba is why you are flying, October onwards is the safer bet — but WhatsApp us with the actual dates before you assume we are shut.
Practical bits
- December and January: try to lock dates 2–3 weeks ahead
- Mid-week is calmer on the boat than weekends
- Full moon can mean more current on drift sites — we put beginners on sheltered reefs those days
